January has come and gone and February is almost done. Now is a perfect time to ask yourself, “Where am I with my New Year’s Resolutions.” Am I still going strong with my goals? Have I had some bad days or weeks staying on track? Or are you saying to yourself, “What Resolutions?” No matter where you are, it’s time to “Power Up”. That’s right, “Power Up” and create those fist pumping “YES” Moments.

I’m sure you know those moments that I am referring to. It’s those moments in a basketball game where time is running out and the basketball player shoots and swwooossh! the ball goes thru the net at the buzzer winning the game. Or on the last play of a football game when the quarterback throws a Hail Mary Pass in a crowd of players only to find his wide receiver has jumped up over the other players and catches the winning pass. YES!!!!

These so called, “YES” moments aren’t reserved just to the sporting arena. They happen quite often in regular life. They happen when your son or daughter crosses the stage and graduates from high school or college. Or when that son or daughter moves out and buys their first home.
“Yes” Moments happens in business, also. In business, however, sometimes it can seem like you get more “No” Moments than “Yes” Moments. Example: You and your company are on course for hitting your quarterly goals, you have considered every possible scenario then WHAM!! You get hit with a problem you weren’t expecting. Then a bill. A delayed invoice payment. You’re getting hit from all sides!

When this happens to you (and it happens to every business person), be prepared. Network and develop the relationships with other businesses to get ideas on how to run your business more efficiently and effectively. Form these collaborations through the life of your company. I love learning new and fresh ideas from other business people – especially if they work in a different industry.

I once had an unexpected problem. I racked my brain and still could not find a solution. I consulted with several business associates, and we came up with a number of options. I reviewed the choices and made a decision. Once corrected, I had my fist pumping “Yes Moment.” These collaborations will help all of us become better business people.
