Successful Fan Page?

Many of my clients know they need a Facebook Fan Page (for business), but they don’t know what success looks like. Personal pages just have lots of pictures of kids and the latest office party. Fan Pages require a different level of engagement. What are the components?

Here are 4 companies who are understand how to connect with their clients on Facebook:

Directly engage your audience by asking them to submit their picture using your product / service. Then use it in your profile pic. They feel excited and invite their friends to see your page.

Consistently a leader in church social media, Northview uses lots of pictures on their page. Does it work? Photos on Facebook receive 53% more Likes and 104% more comments (Hubspot, Nov. 2012).

  • Likeable Media: Ask Questions – In his bookLikeable Social Media, Dave Kerpen dedicates a chapter to asking questions. Engage with your audience by asking for their input. It’s like a focus group – with 1 Billion people! Look at Sharpie and Vitamin Water.

  • Nordstrom: Be Social – It’s called social media for a reason. Highlight the non-sales activities your company is involved in. Habitat for Humanity. Food and clothing drives. Hunger awareness. Make sure your friends know you are not a face-less organization.

Looking for more examples? Check out the book Likeable Social Media. The author lists a lot of case studies you can model you small or large business after. As with any form of marketing, engagement is the key to success.

Scientifically Speaking, of course.
